Paul Andrew Nixon's unbeaten 20 seeing a nervous, unimpressive England home plus two catches and a part in a comical run-out lifted him to top spot in this match. He even had time to donate a further catch to Strauss at second slip. Saqibul Hasan's unbeaten 57 far outstripped any other player's batting performance, but he lost his place as the top player due to 6 unproductive overs of bowling. In the battle for worst batsman of the tournament the Bangladesh captain overtook the England captain thanks to 4 off 18 balls compared to Vaughan's top score of 30 from 59 balls and particularly thanks to Vaughan deliberately dropping a catch from another player so that he could run out Bashar instead.
